Frauenburg
The most prominent feature of the castle is the tower house from the 12th century. Additional living quaters have been added in the 14th and 15th century. It was inhabitated up to the beginning of the 19th century until a fire in 1861 has excelerated the decay.
Based on the survey data from 2022, historical sources and the help of Martin Aigner, the mediveal appearance was reconstructed.

Wildon Markt
Wildon was strategically located between castle mountain and the river Mur. Therefore the settlement dominated mayor trade routes and played an important role in the styrian history.
For the exhibition Geformte Welt a reconstruction of the medieval appearance of Wildon was attampted in a cooperation with Kulturpark Hengist and Steiermärkisches Landesarchiv.

Neu-Wildon
This site is a major landmark in styrian history. The castle dates back until the 13th century with late gothic adaptions and major renaissance renovations in the 15th century. The reconstruction bases on the 3D documentation in 2020 and a contemporary renovation plan from Domenico dell’Allio from the 16th century. Although the high castle can be easily reconstructed, the exact function and appearance of the secondary buildings would require detailed archeological excavations.

Waldstein
This castle was abandoned early in the 16th century and has preserved its medieval appearance until nowadays. The reconstruction bases on the survey in 2019 and paintings from the 16th and 17th century. However, all the paintings show the castle already as a ruin and the main gate area at the high castle’s entrance is very vage.

Hungerturm
This site has been one of the first surveys in spring 2018. The structure has some iconic features with the special design of the draw bridge construction and the gothic main tower. Several hints in the wall construction indicate some secondary buildings within the surrounding wall, however their exact location and usage would require archeological excavations.
